Brisbane City Youth Ballet - Dedicated to the tradition of ballet and the artistic expression of dance

Well what can I say except a huge 'THANK YOU' to all of you who supported the Brisbane City Youth Ballet’s 2009 production of 'The Snow Queen'. We had tremendous support from our BCYB family and we have a production crew that is truly remarkable. It was a magical journey for me personally as it was a ballet I so desperately wanted to do. The performances of 'The Snow Queen' certainly lived up to all our expectations and once again raised the bar making it a ballet that will stay with us forever. It is hard to come down from such a high after working on something for so long but our production team have already had their first meeting with me for our 2010 production of 'The Nutcracker'.

I'm really looking forward to this production as Max Hurley will once again design the sets and costumes. I'm sure you will all agree that his designs for our Cinderella and Snow Queen were a visual feast! He is an amazing man to work with, we just keep bouncing ideas off each other as we all want our version to be unique to BCYB and a journey for our audience of all ages. We have already come up with some interesting concepts for our Nutcracker that will capture the imagination of all who see it! We look forward to keeping you updated on our new season as we had over 130 dancers audition for places in the company for 2010. Keep visiting our site in the New Year to see our 'Snow Queen' video highlights, our new company photos and further promotional material. We also have Facebook page so log on and become a fan!

I so look forward to working with the company and our junior extension dancers during our summer rehearsals in January!

Wishing you all a Wonderful Christmas and New Year.

Miss Janine
